Stella’s Circle is honoured to be the most recent recipient of the Council of the Federation Literacy Award for Newfoundland and Labrador, a recognition of our ongoing commitment to supporting adult learners in our community.

“An outstanding local organization that helps adults facing barriers to fully participate in their community.”
Honourable Paul Dinn, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development

Presented annually in each province and territory, the award celebrates individuals and organizations who are advancing literacy and helping remove barriers to participation. This recognition highlights the importance of accessible learning opportunities and their impact on people’s lives.

At Stella’s Circle, we work alongside individuals facing barriers to education and employment, offering programs that build skills, confidence, and connection. In 2025, we expanded this work by launching a new foundational literacy and numeracy program designed to better support learners with complex needs. This includes specialized programming for newcomers and individuals who may not yet be eligible for traditional Adult Basic Education pathways.

“Stella’s Circle was chosen for their commitment to adult literacy and enhancing programming to give more people the opportunity to participate.”
Honourable Paul Dinn, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development

This recognition reflects the dedication of our team, the strength of our community partnerships, and the determination of the individuals we support every day. We are grateful to be part of a province-wide effort to strengthen literacy and create more inclusive opportunities for learning, growth, and participation.
