Employment

We believe that everyone can make a meaningful contribution in their community.

Having stable and meaningful employment is essential for physical health, mental health, and quality of life. We believe everyone has the ability to work and can benefit from it. Our employment and education programs help people discover their talents and create opportunities for work meaningful to them.

We accept self-referrals or referrals from others, including health care providers, counselling agencies, employment assistance services, community partners, government services, or family and friends of individuals needing employment support.

Employment Services

Individual & Group Employment Services help people identify their own needs and goals to move toward work, school, and greater self-reliance. We assist participants in increasing their job readiness, discovering their skills, and preparing to enter the workforce.

Social Enterprise Training offers job skills and hand-on learning at our three social enterprises in food service, commercial cleaning, and construction. We also provide short-term, transitional work through CanDo! for adults facing significant barriers to employment.

Adult Basic Education (ABE)

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Level 1 program teaches foundational reading, writing and math using the provincial government’s curriculum, enriched with other dynamic and community-based activities.

Level 1 is equivalent to grades 1-6 in the K-12 school system. Our ABE course is offered in small groups of up to 12 students and is tailored to meet the specific needs of each participant. We support students throughout their learning, giving them the time they need to complete each part of the program.

Enrollment is ongoing – please contact us anytime to get started.

This is a great milestone for me. I applied for Skills Discovery a few years back but was unable to complete due to my mental illness. But I was resilient and determined to stay motivated and get better to come back and tackle this again. Today will mark not only graduation but an open door back to work, something I’ve been wanting to accomplish for years.
