Mary shared her memory of Stella Burry

I love to speak to groups about Stella’s Circle. Often, I’m approached by someone who wants to tell a story about Stella Burry, the woman for whom Stella’s Circle is named.

Recently, I spoke at the East District meeting of the United Church Women. The keyboardist, Mary, caught my eye with her exuberant playing! After she finished she rushed over to me and started telling me about Stella Burry. Apparently, Mary felt that Stella, who never married, “should have a man.”  To make her point, whenever there was a piano nearby and Stella would walk into the room, Mary would run to play “Here Comes the Bride!” I can only image what Stella thought of this!
